Iran warns of retaliation if IAEA adopts resolution against Tehran

Iran has threatened to retaliate if the UN nuclear watchdog, the IAEA, adopts a resolution targeting Tehran, according to a statement from the country's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmail Baghaei. The warning was issued on Monday during a press briefing. Baghaei criticized European nations advocating for such a resolution, labeling their approach as "irrational" due to the ongoing conflict between Iran and the United States, which has rendered several Iranian nuclear facilities inaccessible to international inspectors.

The US, Britain, France, and Germany are pushing for a resolution at the IAEA concerning Iran's lack of cooperation and restricted access to its nuclear sites. Iran argues that normal safeguards arrangements have become impractical under wartime conditions, as it has imposed limitations on IAEA access to facilities impacted by previous strikes. This dispute has heightened concerns about the status of Iran's enriched uranium stockpile and the international community's ability to verify the nature of its nuclear program.
