iPhone 18 Pro Max rumors and leaks: Everything we know so far

The highly anticipated iPhone 18 Pro Max launch event is scheduled for September 9, when Apple will unveil its latest iPhone lineup, including the rumored foldable iPhone Ultra and the large-screened iPhone 18 Pro Max. While the iPhone 17 Pro Max introduced significant design changes, the iPhone 18 Pro Max is expected to be a more incremental upgrade, with only minor alterations to its design.

Pre-orders for the iPhone 18 Pro Max are slated to start on September 12, with the device going on sale the following week, on September 18.

The iPhone 18 Pro Max is rumored to feature a 6.9-inch display, maintaining the same 120Hz refresh rate as its predecessor, the iPhone 17 Pro Max. It will likely continue to use Apple's A20 Pro chipset, based on TSMC's 2nm process, which promises an 18% performance boost and 20% better energy efficiency. The device will also house 12GB of RAM and offer storage options of 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB.

The camera system on the iPhone 18 Pro Max is expected to remain largely similar to the iPhone 17 Pro Max, with a 48MP main camera, 48MP ultrawide camera, and a 48MP periscope telephoto lens with 4x optical zoom. However, some sources suggest that Apple may be transitioning to an all-screen design, potentially eliminating the Face ID sensor, instead integrating it into the display for a more seamless look. This could also lead to a slimmer Dynamic Island, which currently occupies a portion of the screen.

While the iPhone 18 Pro Max is unlikely to undergo drastic design changes, there are rumors of a heavier model weighing in at 240g (8.47oz), potentially due to larger battery capacities. The device could be available in three color options: Dark Cherry, Black, Silver, and Light Blue. As for pricing, analysts predict a price increase of $100 to $200, potentially pushing the lowest-priced Pro Max model to $1,399 for 256GB of storage.
