India's battery industry set to generate up to 2M jobs by FY30: Adecco India

India's battery industry is projected to create up to two million jobs by 2030, as it transitions from assembly and import dependence to full-scale domestic production. The industry will encompass cell manufacturing, complete battery packs, and recycling. Deepesh Gupta, Adecco India's Director and Head of General Staffing, reported that recruitment in the sector will focus on skilled professionals in electrochemistry, materials science, battery engineering, manufacturing, and recycling.

Adecco India's data, derived from over 30 clients, suggests that around 25% of the jobs will be direct and 75% indirect. The industry's capacity has grown from 60 GWh to an expected 100 GWh by the end of 2026, with upcoming gigafactory investments in several states. This move towards localization, driven by the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative and the Critical Minerals Mission, is set to decrease reliance on imported cells and materials while generating employment opportunities across various industrial corridors.
