‘I’ll resign on election day if NPP loses 1.7m votes, 50 seats again’ – Sylvester Tetteh

Aspiring New Patriotic Party (NPP) General Secretary Sylvester Tetteh has stated that he would resign from his position on election day if the party experiences a significant drop in votes and parliamentary seats in the next general election. Speaking on Adom TV's Badwam, Mr Tetteh highlighted the importance of evaluating the party's electoral performance based on both votes garnered and parliamentary seats won.

He warned that if the NPP were to lose 1.7 million votes and 50 seats in the upcoming election, he would be compelled to resign on that day. Tetteh expressed that the magnitude of any losses would be a crucial factor in determining whether he would resign. Currently, the NPP holds 87 parliamentary seats, which serves as his benchmark for measuring the party's performance in the next election.

Mr Tetteh proposed that if he were to assume the role of General Secretary and the NPP managed to secure 137 parliamentary seats, it would be a significant achievement, causing widespread celebration. He argued that an increase from 87 to 137 seats would be a substantial improvement and a testament to the collective efforts of the party.

Tetteh emphasized that clear principles and measurable results should be the guiding factors in assessing the performance of the party's leadership.
