Idris Backs Niger’s Bago for Second Term

The Minister of Information, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, has publicly supported the reelection bid of Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, for a second term. This stance contradicts earlier speculations circulating within the political circles of the state. Idris, who visited Minna to mourn the late Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Alhaji Aminu Yussuf, also voiced his backing for President Bola Tinubu's bid for another term.

Idris' visit to Bago served to dispel rumors and solidify his support for the governor's re-election. The minister commended Bago's administration for its active development initiatives under the "New Niger Agenda". He emphasized that Bago's performance warranted another term in office, citing the achievements made since the administration began.

Idris argued that a second term for Bago would enable the continuation of ongoing projects, expansion of development programs, and the advancement of gains already made in various sectors.

Furthermore, Idris called for continued support for President Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, asserting that the reforms and initiatives being implemented by the federal government are aimed at restructuring the Nigerian economy and enhancing citizens' living conditions. He urged Nigerians and members of the APC to rally behind President Tinubu's re-election, emphasizing that continuity would allow the federal government to capitalize on the progress made thus far.

In response to Idris' visit, Bago expressed his gratitude for the minister's visit and the endorsement given to his administration. He reiterated his commitment to the welfare and prosperity of the people of Niger State, vowing to persist with policies and programs that would improve the quality of life for citizens.
