Hunt continues for man who allegedly attacked parents and brother with axe

Police are actively searching for Peter O Ryan, 48, following an alleged axe attack on his family in Victoria's east. The incident occurred at a home in Tyers, approximately two hours east of Melbourne, on Saturday. Peter's 76-year-old father, 47-year-old brother, and 74-year-old mother were severely injured during the attack and flown to The Alfred hospital in Melbourne with life-threatening and critical injuries, respectively.

Police do not consider O Ryan to pose a threat to public safety and urge the community to remain vigilant, reporting any sightings of the wanted man. Authorities have not found the assault weapon and believe O Ryan could be armed. No further threats to the community have been suggested by intelligence, and the attack likely resulted from an argument between family members.

Last seen wearing a mustard-colored jacket and carrying a black backpack, O Ryan is a Tyers local and well-known to police.
