HerSpace Manufacturing raises $40M from Gray Matters Capital

HerSpace Manufacturing, a Bengaluru-based company that provides employee accommodation for industrial workers, has secured $40 million in funding from Gray Matters Capital, an existing investor. This latest investment follows a $10 million commitment from Gray Matters Capital in 2025. The new capital will be utilized over a 30-month period, with a blend of debt, quasi-equity, and equity financing.

HerSpace Manufacturing plans to utilize the funds to expand its operations across Greater Bengaluru, Hosur, Chennai, and Andhra Pradesh, while also pursuing other growth initiatives.

Bob Pattillo, the founder of HerSpace Manufacturing, stated that the startup has moved rapidly from an idea to a functioning business with significant market demand. The company's goal is to leverage the capital, experience, and insights gained from its initial projects to create a scalable model that maintains the quality and affordability that appeal to both workers and employers. To date, HerSpace Manufacturing has delivered over 950 modular beds and has a pipeline of more than 10,000 beds.

The company's accommodations have proven to enhance employee retention, productivity, and satisfaction, while simultaneously reducing transportation costs and carbon footprints for employing businesses. One notable example cited by Pattillo involved a company that leased 200 of their beds to female employees, who then enthusiastically recommended the service to their colleagues, ultimately leading to the company utilizing the remaining 280 beds.

The startup emphasizes that traditional PG accommodations face challenges related to quality, safety, compliance, and security for women. This underscores the importance of worker housing solutions like HerSpace Manufacturing to support India's manufacturing growth. Simha Nagaraj, CEO of HerSpace Manufacturing, expressed that this funding milestone represents a critical juncture for the company, signaling the vast market potential ahead.
