Gunfire in Seremban raid: Cops kill suspect, seize RM27.5mil in MDMA

In a recent operation in Seremban, Malaysian police have disrupted a drug-processing syndicate suspected of producing a substantial amount of MDMA, valued at RM27.5 million. The Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) announced that the syndicate's 52-year-old primary suspect was fatally shot during a raid at a terraced house in the area.

The house, which had been functioning as a drug laboratory since early this year, was seized by the authorities. The operation resulted in the confiscation of suspected MDMA in various forms, including liquid, lumps, pills, and powder, as well as a range of drug-processing equipment.

The suspect, who possessed the skills to convert chemicals into MDMA, had been involved in drug-related activities since the 1990s and had been previously arrested and imprisoned under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. He also had three prior arrest and imprisonment records under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and was wanted under Section 3(1) of the Kidnapping Act 1961.

The syndicate typically operated in residential areas with low population density to avoid detection, using these locations for drug processing and distribution.

Two additional raids in Seremban 2 and Kuchai Lama, Kuala Lumpur, led to the arrest of a 32-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man, both of whom tested positive for drugs. The woman was found to be under the influence of methamphetamine, while the man tested positive for tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Both individuals had previous criminal records, including drug-related offenses, and were held for seven days until September 13.

Several cars were also seized during the raids, and the case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code and Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. The police believe that the seizure of these drugs could help curb the distribution to over 400,000 potential users.
