Grant Kekana Siblings: Meet Ipeleng Kekana

Grant Kekana, a South African footballer born on October 31, 1992, in Polokwane, Limpopo, plays as a centre-back for Mamelodi Sundowns in the Premier Soccer League and for the South African national team. Raised by his mother, Pinky Kekana, a former teacher who later became a politician, Kekana's upbringing was marked by strong support for both his education and his burgeoning interest in football.

Mentioning his mother Pinky as his "rock and first supporter," Kekana also credited her for buying him his first pair of soccer boots. Despite living in the Western Cape, Kekana stays in close contact with his sister, Ipeleng, with whom he shares a strong bond, acting as both a sibling and father figure in her life. Kekana's professional career began in the youth ranks of the University of Pretoria before moving to SuperSport United around 2010–2013.

He returned to the University of Pretoria from 2013 to 2015 and rejoined SuperSport United in 2015, eventually transferring to Mamelodi Sundowns in 2021. At Sundowns, Kekana has become a regular starter and is a key figure in their defence. Representing South Africa at the international level, Kekana earned approximately 16 caps and played a crucial role in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, contributing to South Africa's semi-final appearance and bronze medal win.

With Mamelodi Sundowns, he has secured multiple league titles and cups, including consecutive Premier Soccer League championships and a win in the inaugural African Football League. Individually, he was named PSL Defender of the Season for the 2023/24 campaign.
