Fugitive developer's daughter convicted over $150m loan

The daughter of fugitive property developer Jean Nassif has been sentenced to a six-month community corrections order for falsifying documents to secure a $150 million construction loan for her father's project. Ashlyn Nassif pleaded guilty to providing false documents to Westpac in 2021. The loan facilitated the construction of the Skyview Apartments complex in northwest Sydney, built by her father's firm Toplace.

Jean Nassif, currently a fugitive living in Lebanon, faces arrest warrants and is involved in a corruption inquiry. The complex became a key focus in an Independent Commission Against Corruption investigation, which is examining allegations of political favoritism and cash requests from Nassif. The ruling comes over three years after Ashlyn's arrest and suspension from practicing law.
