From substitute teacher to the NFL, persistence pays off for Seahawks WR Foster

Montorie Foster Jr. has come a long way from working as a substitute teacher and pursuing his real estate license. The Seattle Seahawks wide receiver was initially waived by the team in training camp last year but refused to give up on his NFL dream. Foster, 25, made the most of his opportunity this year, ultimately making the 53-man roster for the defending Super Bowl champions.

The former Michigan State player, who made 108 catches for 1,426 yards and eight touchdowns in 54 games, was waived with an injury designation after suffering a hamstring injury but spent time on the practice squad late in the season. After being waived, Foster spent 18 weeks back in Ohio, teaching high school as a substitute and becoming a real estate agent.

He caught the attention of Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald during training camp, who praised Foster's determination. Foster made an impressive debut in the preseason, catching five passes for 36 yards, including a 5-yard scoring reception. Now, as the Seahawks prepare for their season opener against the New England Patriots, Foster expresses his gratitude and excitement for the future.
