Four teens dead, four others sent to hospital after crash near Manitoba resort town

Four teenagers perished and four others, including two children, received hospital treatment after a pair of vehicles collided and ended up in a ditch near a resort town in Manitoba over the weekend.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) arrived at the scene around 9 p.m. on Sunday, following a crash that occurred at an intersection near Winnipeg Beach, roughly 80 kilometers north of Winnipeg. A car with four occupants was traveling westbound on Highway 229 when it collided with a southbound van at the intersection. Both vehicles overturned, with one rolling onto its roof.

Among those killed were three 18-year-olds from Manitoba, including the female driver, and a 17-year-old from Ontario who was in the car. The four people from Winnipeg who were in the van, consisting of a 49-year-old man driving, a woman, and two children, sustained minor injuries and were transported to the hospital. Police stated that the intersection is equipped with stop signs. An investigator is currently assisting with the investigation into the incident.
