1. Exposure scopes: The Camera app could display either a waveform or histogram to assist users in judging exposure while shooting. A histogram illustrates how much of the image is too dark, too bright, or in-between, while a waveform aligns this information with where those areas are in the frame.

2. Focus peaking and highlight warnings: New code overlays helpful information directly onto the camera preview. Focus peaking highlights the sharp edges of whatever is in focus using a colored outline, while a separate overlay warns of overexposed parts using solid colors, pulsing colors, diagonal stripes, or a checkerboard pattern.

3. Repeated self-timer shots: Apple is adding the capability to take multiple timed photos in quick succession, with each countdown starting immediately after the previous shot is taken, without waiting for the photo to finish saving.

4. Manual focus: A feature for manually setting and locking focus, similar to what is already available in Apple's Final Cut Camera app, has been discovered in testing. This control allows users to override autofocus, similar to what was previously present in iOS 26 but was removed in iOS 27 beta 1.
