Fisher ends drought; Hillsboro's Saathoff grabs Singles' checkered

With the points race secured on Saturday, the American Flat Track Springfield Mile II SuperTwins race at the Illinois State Fairgrounds on Sunday was a straightforward battle to claim victory. Davis Fisher, seeking momentum for his 2027 campaign, claimed the season finale win, his first since 2021. Fisher's KTM 790 Duke motorcycle edged out Australia's Tom Drane by just 0.009 seconds.

Fisher expressed his satisfaction, noting the team's efforts to secure the podiums throughout the season. Fisher's best finish in his SuperTwins' career was a fourth-place standing. The adrenaline remained high following the hard-fought win. Fisher admitted to not having felt that low before during a race and celebrated with fans in the infield.

Fisher is also a first-time father, with his wife Makenna 21 weeks pregnant and due on January 13. Drane finished second by 0.048 seconds, while Trent Lowe came in third. Mattoon's Dallas Daniels secured the points championship by winning the first Springfield Mile, while Briar Bauman secured the second place in the same race. In the AFT Singles race, Hillsboro's Chase Saathoff secured the win despite a last lap two-motorcycle wreck on the second turn.

Officially, Saathoff beat Kage Tadman by 0.038 seconds and Drane by 0.039 seconds. Saathoff expressed his delight with his win, stating that winning Springfield, an hour from his home, is especially special.
