Exclusive: 4 districts account for 85% of SIR deletion requests in Uttarakhand

The Election Commission has extended the deadline for processing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) claims and objections in Uttarakhand’s electoral rolls. As of September 28, more than 1.3 lakh Form-7 applications seeking name deletions have been filed, accounting for over 85% of the state's 1.3 million such applications. Udham Singh Nagar tops the list, with 43,878 applications, followed by Haridwar, Dehradun, and Nainital.

These four districts combined represent more than 85% of the total Form-7 applications received during the claims-and-objections period. The extended deadline allows time to complete the disposal of pending claims and objections, ensuring a final voter list is published on October 3, instead of the originally scheduled September 15.
