Drivers With Suspended Licenses to Face Criminal Cases in Lahore

Lahore Traffic Police have issued a stern warning that motorists with suspended licenses will now be subject to criminal prosecution, as authorities intensify their efforts to curb the number of fatal and serious road accidents. According to Lahore's Chief Traffic Officer, Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi, the licenses of 146 drivers involved in such accidents have already been revoked.

Any driver found responsible for a fatal or serious non-fatal accident will now have their license suspended, a penalty that will remain in place for a minimum of one year. In cases of reckless driving, the suspension will be enforced for an even longer period.

Drivers responsible for fatal accidents will face additional legal consequences, although the suspension of licenses in such cases will be subject to court orders. The Chief Traffic Officer emphasized that irresponsible driving will not be tolerated and that traffic violations will be dealt with under a zero-tolerance policy. He stressed that safeguarding the lives and property of citizens remains the primary objective, and that stringent legal measures will continue to be employed to prevent accidents and ensure safer travel for all.
