Delhi PG Building Collapse: Death Toll Rises To 6 As 50-Year-Old Structure Collapses In Satya Niketan During Repair Work, 11 Rescued | Watch

New Delhi witnessed a tragic incident on Sunday when a 50-year-old multi-storey building collapsed in the Satya Niketan area while repair work was ongoing. The building, which was a paying guest accommodation near Delhi University's South Campus, tragically collapsed around 1:30 pm, resulting in the deaths of six people and the rescue of 11 others.

Multiple rescue agencies, including the Delhi Police, Delhi Fire Service, National Disaster Response Force, and Delhi Disaster Management Authority, were deployed to the scene. Throughout the night, efforts were made to rescue trapped individuals, with one additional person being rescued during the night, although they were declared dead upon arrival at the hospital, raising the death toll to six.

As rescue operations continued into the following day, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Amit Goel confirmed that the death toll had risen to six, with rescue teams remaining on the scene to search for more survivors. The authorities have also registered a case against the building owner and others involved in the incident, and a magisterial inquiry has been ordered to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collapse.
