Defiant KP CM reaches Karachi on last leg of Sindh drive

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi finally arrived in Karachi on Monday morning after a tiring six-hour journey. He traveled through blockades, dug-up roads, and other obstacles, which the PTI alleged were placed by the government to thwart his arrival. The chief minister was met by a jubilant crowd of PTI supporters, including women and children, at the Toll Plaza.

The celebration was lit up by fireworks. He was accompanied by PTI Sindh president Haleem Adil Sheikh and other party leaders, who embarked on a five-day public mobilization campaign in Sindh for the Sept 27 nationwide protest to demand the release of ex-premier Imran Khan. Earlier, CM Afridi had accused the Sindh government of creating obstacles in his march and vowed to stay in the province until he launched a 'free Imran Khan' movement in Karachi.

However, the PTI had to alter the venue of its planned rally from Mazar-i-Quaid to the Karachi Toll Plaza due to security concerns. Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab acknowledged that the administration had arranged security and traffic measures for large gatherings but denied any specific targeting of the PTI.
