'All Necessary Rescue And Relief Measures Underway': Pralhad Joshi Speaks To Delhi CM Rekha Gupta As Rescue Teams Race To Save Those Trapped In Collapsed Building

New Delhi: Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi contacted Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday regarding the collapse of the Satya Niketan building, where three students have perished and several others remain trapped. Grief-stricken by the incident at the private building near Delhi University’s South Campus, Joshi assured the Chief Minister that all necessary rescue and relief operations are being carried out swiftly.

In a post on X, Joshi expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy in Satya Niketan, near Delhi University’s South Campus. He informed that Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is personally overseeing the rescue efforts and assured that they will be carried out with utmost urgency. Joshi also prayed for the safety of those still trapped and wished for a quick recovery of the injured.

The five-story building, which housed a boys hostel in a crowded bylane near Delhi University’s South Campus, collapsed on Sunday afternoon. As a result, three students lost their lives, and many are still entangled in the debris. So far, eight individuals have been rescued; one among them succumbed to injuries at the hospital, while another passed away during medical treatment. Five individuals are in critical condition, and one rescuer, who sustained injuries, has since been discharged.

According to police, most of the students residing in the vicinity hail from Kerala, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh and primarily attend Motilal Nehru College, Atma Ram Sanatan Dharm College, and Sri Venkateswara College.
