Abu Dhabi's new digital skills card lets employers verify credentials instantly

The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC) and Union Assessment and Quality Accreditation (UAC) have launched a new digital credential system in Abu Dhabi. The Digital Skills Card allows employers to instantly verify a professional's qualifications through blockchain technology. Each card is linked to a certification earned via QCC-accredited personnel conformity programs delivered by UAC.

Employers, regulators, and other stakeholders can verify the card's validity via a QR code on the ADI Chain blockchain infrastructure developed by the ADI Foundation. The launch event in the capital brought together government officials, regulators, industry stakeholders, and certified professionals. Badr Khamis Al Shumaili, QCC's executive director, emphasized that digitalization has become crucial for establishing more interconnected and transparent systems based on reliable data.

Shahbaz Muhammad Khan, UAC's director and CEO, stated that the initiative is centered around certified professionals, ensuring that verified skills can travel with individuals, be recognized across institutions and borders, and maintain their value throughout a person's career. QCC plans to expand the Digital Skills Card's scope to include a wider range of certifications, qualifications, and professional achievements.

The council will collaborate with government bodies, regulators, employers, and industry stakeholders to enhance digital credential solutions, professional recognition, workforce quality, and service standards in Abu Dhabi. QCC supports the emirate's quality infrastructure through standardization, conformity assessment, testing, inspection, and accreditation.

UAC specializes in workforce skills assessment and accreditation for industrial sectors, aligning programs with regulatory requirements and labor market needs.
