60-Year-Old Woman Crushed Under BEST Wet-Lease Bus Tyre In Worli After Alighting From Taxi At Signal

Mumbai experienced a tragic accident on Monday morning when a 60-year-old woman lost her life after being crushed by the rear tyre of a BEST wet-lease bus at the ST Office traffic signal in Worli. The incident unfolded as the bus was moving forward after the signal turned green, while the woman was disembarking from a taxi parked nearby.

According to the official report, the bus had originated from Byculla Station, heading towards Lotus. The taxi was stationary alongside the bus, and the elderly woman was alighting from it as the traffic signal changed from red to green. As the bus accelerated, the woman's foot inadvertently came into contact with the left rear tyre, resulting in severe head injuries and bleeding from her head and ear.

The bus conductor promptly transferred the woman to Nair Hospital for medical attention. Despite the efforts of the on-duty doctors, she succumbed to her injuries at 12:15 pm. The deceased has been identified as Vanmala R. Sabale. Following the incident, representatives from the Worli and Central depots, the accident officer, Accident Control Centre (ACC), and a wet-lease operator were dispatched to the scene and the hospital for further investigation and action.
