4-month-old baby dies after being found unconscious at nursery [WATCH]

In Dungun, a four-month-old baby girl passed away after being discovered unconscious at a nursery. Superintendent Nik Ab Halim Nik Mat of the Dungun district police confirmed the infant was declared dead at Dungun Hospital around 12:45 pm. Police received a report of the incident at 3:41 pm. The baby had been delivered to the nursery by her mother at approximately 8 am, appearing healthy.

At about 10 am, nursery staff found her unconscious and promptly sent her to the Durian Mas Health Clinic, where she was subsequently referred to Dungun Hospital. Medical personnel at the hospital conducted an examination and tried to resuscitate the baby by providing respiratory support; however, she was pronounced dead at around 12:45 pm.

The initial assessment found no physical injuries on the infant's body. A post-mortem examination will be carried out to ascertain the cause of death. Police have initiated an inquiry under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 to investigate the possibility of negligence or neglect during the baby's time at the nursery. The two caregivers who were on duty at the time have been identified, and their statements will be recorded to support the investigation.

In addition, police plan to record statements from the parents and other witnesses, as well as gather medical reports and opinions from relevant authorities.
