37-year-old Nigerian woman goes missing after travelling from Lagos to Qatar

A 37-year-old Nigerian woman, Saratu Jibo, has reportedly gone missing after traveling from Lagos to Doha, Qatar, aboard a Qatar Airways flight on Tuesday. Her brother, Jonathan Jibo, notified the family on Saturday via X that they had not been able to reach Saratu for over 48 hours since the aircraft arrived safely in Doha. Saratu had been in contact with the family throughout the flight using WhatsApp after connecting to the plane's Wi-Fi.

However, communication ceased once she arrived in Qatar. According to Jonathan, someone waiting to receive Saratu at the airport was unable to locate her upon landing. The family subsequently informed the airport and the airline, who reported that Saratu had collected her luggage. This development has heightened concerns regarding her whereabouts, especially as Jonathan described her as an experienced airport worker who had spent nearly a decade working at Lagos airport and was familiar with air travel.

He noted that Saratu's trip was her first outside Nigeria, she had no friends or known contacts in Qatar, and she had planned and funded the journey herself several months prior. She was also expected to return to work in Doha shortly after her arrival. The family has asked the travel agent to notify the appropriate authorities and is seeking CCTV footage from the airport to trace Saratu's movements post-arrival.

They expressed concern about the impact of her disappearance on their mother, who had been anticipating a call from her upon her return. As of the time of this report, the family had not yet determined Saratu's current location or the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.
