2027: NDC, ADC refute claims of missing candidates, reaffirm presence in states

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and African Democratic Party (ADC) have refuted claims that they lack governorship candidates in 12 states ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing the reports as malicious propaganda. In a press statement released on September 5, 2026, the NDC confirmed it has fully structured political wings across all 28 states with governorship polls scheduled for 2027.

ADC, in a separate release, unveiled their own list of candidates, emphasizing they are offering Nigerians a credible leadership alternative. The NDC party's National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director Esq., described the party as a robust national movement active in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, dismissing the reports as false and designed to undermine the party's growing momentum.

The NDC published the names of its duly nominated gubernatorial candidates for the 12 states in question, including Zamfara State's Senator Kabiru Marafa and Borno's Rtd. Rear Admiral Ibrahim Sanusi Kasim. The ADC also unveiled its list of 28 candidates, including former Kaduna State governor Isa Ashiru and former Attorney-General of the Federation Abubakar Malami.

The NDC urged media to practice responsible journalism by verifying claims before publishing, cautioning against unverified information that could degrade public trust in Nigeria's democratic process.
