2 more Fridays before Melaka assembly dissolves, Ab Rauf hints

Melaka chief minister Ab Rauf Yusof has suggested that the state assembly may be dissolved at the end of this month. Rauf, who serves as the Melaka BN chairman, stated that the dissolution could occur "in two more Fridays", according to reports from Berita Harian. At a recent meet-and-greet session with residents of Kampung Bertam Ulu, Melaka, Rauf indicated that "it won't be long" before the assembly is dissolved. He made this remark after previously stating that there were "four more Fridays" left before the dissolution.

Yesterday, BN chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi playfully encouraged Rauf to hasten the announcement regarding the assembly's dissolution. Zahid argued that this would provide the people, especially young individuals, with the chance to decide the state's future. He also reminded the Melaka BN to safeguard the 21 seats the coalition secured in the 2021 election, as Pakatan Harapan gained five seats, while Perikatan Nasional won two in the 28-member assembly.

The current term of the state assembly concludes in December, and Rauf has been given the task of negotiating electoral cooperation with any party for the upcoming Melaka state election.
