Work on Jabba Dam suspended due to security concerns

PESHAWAR: Construction on the Jabba Dam in Jamrud tehsil of Khyber district has been temporarily halted due to security concerns, officials from the Irrigation Department and district administration announced on Sunday. Security arrangements are anticipated to be finalized shortly, at which point work on the dam will recommence.

The construction firm had already been experiencing security threats, and three security guards assigned to the dam have reportedly gone missing. As a precaution, machinery and construction equipment have been relocated from the site to avoid further damage. The provincial government has committed Rs8 billion for the dam's construction.

The Irrigation Department emphasized that the Jabba Dam is a significant public welfare project. Upon completion, it will benefit the residents of Jamrud, Peshawar, and offer protection against flood risks in regions such as Regi and neighboring areas. Officials stated that construction will resume promptly once the security situation improves.
