Woman, lover arrested for murdering her two children in Tirupattur

In Tirupattur, a 26-year-old woman and her lover have been arrested for the alleged murder of her two children due to the fear that the boys could impede their illicit relationship. The accused, S. Sivagami, resides in Velichanur village, Jawadhu Hills, Tiruvannamalai, and is married to B. Sait, 31. The couple had two children together.

Sait was previously arrested for illegal felling of red sanders in Andhra Pradesh several years ago and is currently incarcerated in a local prison. Sivagami met S. Raja, a 34-year-old cab driver, while living in the hills. On August 27, she took her two children, aged 5 and 2, to Alangayam town by bus and subsequently walked to a nearby farm well.

The police allege that as the children watched the water level in the well, Sivagami pushed them into the well and fled the scene. The boys drowned before the landowner, G. Prakasam, arrived at the farm well. Upon notification, the Alangayam police retrieved the bodies and registered a case. Sivagami, who admitted to the crime, is currently held at a sub-jail in Tirupattur town. Ongoing investigations are being conducted.
