When Will the Police Prosecute Fadahunsi, Shekwolo, Buba

The Nigeria Police have failed to arrest and prosecute Senator Francis Fadahunsi, Chairman Samuel Shekwolo, and Commissioner Sainna Buba for their threats to non-supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) with violence. This delay has raised concerns among democracy advocates about the impunity granted to ruling party members engaging in acts of lawlessness.

The 2027 general election approaches, and the apparent lack of decisive action by the Nigeria Police against the Osun East Senator, Abuja Area Council Chairman, and Borno State Commissioner for Poverty Alleviation, Youth, and Sports Development has sparked worry among democracy supporters. The National Peace Committee and the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) have called for the arrest and prosecution of these individuals, describing their threats as intimidation and direct assaults on the Constitution and democratic principles.

Despite the appeals for action, the APC-linked individuals have maintained that their statements were intended to motivate supporters to defeat opposition parties at the ballot box rather than encourage physical violence.
