Varsity student dies, eight in hospital after UiTM endurance challenge in Jengka

KUANTAN, September 6 — A deadly incident unfolded at the Komander Kesatria Endurance Challenge (KKEC) 2026, organized by Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in Jengka, Maran on September 5. A 21-year-old male student, Fadhlan Fakhry Solana Mohd Fellimal from UiTM Negeri Sembilan branch, sadly lost his life while eight others were admitted to the hospital due to health complications.

The incident occurred as the participants lost consciousness before being rushed to the hospital, with their health issues likely attributed to the hot weather. Maran Police chief Supt Wong Kim Wai confirmed the incident to Bernama, stating that the deceased's identity would be revealed following the post-mortem report. UiTM Pahang branch expressed its deep sorrow and condolences to Fadhlan's family, assuring that the university is giving its full attention to the family's needs.

Following the tragedy, the organizers have canceled the remaining outdoor events for KKEC 2026 scheduled for today. The annual programme, held from September 2 to 8 at the UiTM Pahang branch, adheres to strict health and safety standard operating procedures, with participants required to undergo health screenings and periodic checks before each event.
