Underprivileged children to access science learning under new partnership

Karachi: Children from disadvantaged backgrounds will soon have the chance to explore science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) at The Dawood Foundation's MagnifiScience Centre, thanks to a new partnership with Wafi Energy Pakistan Limited's Tameer Trust. The initiative aims to provide interactive science and experiential learning opportunities to students who typically lack access to specialized science facilities.

Under the programme, young learners will be invited to visit the Centre to partake in exhibits, experiments, and hands-on activities that bring scientific concepts to life through curiosity, observation, and discovery. This approach seeks to make meaningful STEM learning experiences accessible to children from diverse backgrounds.

Favad Soomro, CEO of The Dawood Foundation, emphasized the long-term impact of such learning experiences on young people's perceptions of themselves and the world around them. He expressed the Foundation's mission to make science engaging and accessible for all children.

Zubair Shaikh, CEO of Wafi Energy Pakistan, highlighted the importance of investing in young people's development, stating that the future of Pakistan hinges on how today's youth learn and grow. He noted that the partnership will enhance STEM education by making it more engaging and enjoyable for students.

Shafiq Ahmed, Trustee of The Dawood Foundation, explained that such collaborations enable the MagnifiScience Centre to reach more young visitors, providing them with opportunities to experience science through exploration. He added that the partnership aligns with the shared commitment of both organizations to widen access to education and create learning opportunities for young people.

The agreement was signed by Shafiq Ahmed and Favad Soomro, along with senior representatives from both organizations, including Imran Qureshi, Director of Corporate and Government Relations at Wafi Energy Pakistan, and Christoph S. Sprung, Chief Governance Officer at The Dawood Foundation.
