Ukraine-Krieg: Selenskyj mit wenig Hoffnung auf baldigen Frieden

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Selenskyj expressed little optimism about achieving a swift peace following his talks with US and European representatives, according to Ukrainian media. He stated that if the war extends into winter, a "Winter Package" would be necessary. Selenskyj's discussions with US negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, as well as European representatives, were described as "extremely substantive."

Following the negotiations in Kiev, Selenskyj noted that Ukraine, Europe, and America would meet soon. He added that the presence of Witkoff and Kushner had been "more effective than Patriot missile defense systems" in providing a breather from Russian attacks. US President Donald Trump's emissaries were urged to visit Kiev more often to give civilians a respite from constant Russian assaults.

While Russian leader Vladimir Putin declared a three-day ceasefire during the US negotiators' visit, Ukraine refrained from attacking Moscow during that time. Selenskyj reiterated the need for a top-level meeting to resolve key issues, such as territorial division, which Putin categorically rejected. Instead, Putin urged Selenskyj to attend talks in Moscow, which the Ukrainian President declined.

Kushner advocated for the resumption of trilateral talks between Ukraine and Russia under US mediation, with CNN quoting him as expressing hope for soon progress in the latest negotiations in Kiev and Moscow.
