Torrevieja Approves €785,000 Police Station in Town Centre

The Torrevieja Town Council has approved a budget of €785,105 for the construction of a new Local Police station in the heart of the town, located at 17 Calle Joaquín Chapaprieta. The four-month project, expected to commence soon, will see the conversion of a three-storey building, with 735.65 square meters of renovations across the basement, ground floor, and first floor.

The station will be strategically positioned to provide faster access to busy areas including the shopping district, port, promenades, and residential neighborhoods. Its central location aims to enhance the visibility of the police force, particularly in a town experiencing significant growth. The premises will be equipped with modern facilities, including a briefing and training room, multipurpose room, offices, changing facilities, storage areas, a reception, administrative area, public service desks, an accessible toilet facility, and a 48-square-metre surveillance room.

The project also involves upgrading electrical, lighting, plumbing, drainage, air-conditioning, ventilation systems, data networks, access controls, CCTV, and fire-protection equipment. Additional amenities such as changing rooms, showers, and toilets will be refurbished, with new flooring, ceilings, partitions, doors, windows, furniture, and police signage installed.

This development is part of a broader strategy to reorganize municipal policing resources, freeing up space at the force's main headquarters for new services.
