Top 25 wing to visit Kentucky during Big Blue Madness

The University of Kentucky basketball program is actively seeking to bolster its recruiting efforts, with a focus on top prospects. Mark Pope, the head of the department, is reaching out to the most sought-after players. Recently, he succeeded in securing a visit from 2027 forward Ryan Hampton. Now, the Wildcats are looking ahead to 2028 and a potential recruit named DJ Okoth.

Okoth stands at 6'6" and weighs 180 lbs. He is a small forward from Tennessee and is currently rated as a five-star player, ranking 17th overall in the 247Sports composite rankings. Kentucky made an offer to him, and it has now been reported that Okoth will be taking an unofficial visit to Lexington during Big Blue Madness on October 2. Last season, Okoth put up impressive numbers, averaging 13 points and 5 rebounds per game. However, he really shined at the Peach Jam this year, demonstrating a more potent scoring ability. Additionally, Okoth is a strong defender, utilizing his 6'10" wingspan to block shots and disrupt passing lanes.

The Wildcats are not the only programs interested in Okoth. Several Southeastern Conference schools, including Texas A&M and the Tennessee Volunteers, have already shown interest. It is expected that more will follow. While a commitment from Okoth is not imminent, Pope is focused on establishing a solid rapport early on and hopes that it will ultimately lead to him in Lexington.
