“회의 몇 번 했다고 올림픽 유치 가까워지나”…도의회서 성과지표 ‘쓴소리’

The National Assembly of South Korea's Jeonbuk Province has criticized the Korean Olympic Committee's performance assessment system for focusing more on the number of administrative activities rather than the actual impact of those activities on the Olympic bid process. Chairman Park Hee-bae made these remarks during the 2025 fiscal year's final audit review.

The current performance metrics consist of the establishment and operation of the Doomin Community Olympic Committee, conducting nationwide public opinion surveys, international cooperation and sports diplomacy, and organizing advisory committees and processing related documents. Park argued that these metrics do not adequately answer the crucial question of whether the Jeonbuk bid has taken another step forward towards securing the Olympic Games.

He suggested that the performance metrics should be changed from "what has been done" to "what has changed as a result" at the departmental level. Instead of measuring the composition and operation of the Doomin Community Olympic Committee, he proposed assessing the "Olympic cooperation and alliance completion rate." Instead of counting the number of public opinion surveys conducted, he suggested measuring "national support for the Olympic bid."

Instead of tracking the number of international meetings and interviews, he proposed evaluating "the international networking completion rate of the Olympic bid." And instead of counting the number of advisory committee meetings held, he suggested measuring "the extent to which the basic plan's core requirements are met" and "the actual progress of the domestic approval process."
