Stop fasting for vengeance – Cleric warns Christians

Apostle John Okoriko, founder of the Solid Rock Kingdom Church in Akwa Ibom State, has cautioned Christians against engaging in prayer and fasting as a means to exact revenge or confront adversaries. He emphasized that such endeavors are futile, as God does not respond to such prayers. During a recent Interactive Service at Life Tabernacle in Eket, Okoriko highlighted that the perceived ineffectiveness of prayer and fasting is often due to praying in the wrong manner and outside God's ordained way.

Okoriko pointed out that for prayer and fasting to yield positive results in individuals' lives and Nigeria as a nation, Christians must align their actions with God's will. He lamented that unbelief and ingratitude are significant obstacles that hinder prayers from being answered. According to Okoriko, prayer and fasting alone are insufficient if Christians do not complement them with action and practical steps.

He stressed that lack of action renders the prayers ineffective, as God will not make a wish come true without corresponding human effort. Okoriko advised that one should act as if they have already attained their desired outcome to make it permanent. For instance, if someone prays to become a millionaire, they must adopt the mindset and conduct of a wealthy individual to bring in the financial prosperity.

Ultimately, Okoriko urged Christians to stop fasting in anger or resentment, as this only serves to perpetuate negativity and prevents prayers from being answered.
