Springs throws 7 shutout innings, Muncy homers as A’s beat Mariners 6-2

Jeffrey Springs pitched seven immaculate innings, while Max Muncy hit a home run for the second consecutive day as the Athletics secured a 6-2 victory over the Seattle Mariners in a game played on Saturday night.

In addition to Muncy's power at-bat, Lawrence Butler added a two-run homer, and Henry Bolte and Donovan Walton each recorded RBI hits. Geoff Hartlieb and Elvis Alvarado contributed RBI hits in the final two innings.

The A's, currently sitting at 57-86, have managed to secure four consecutive wins for the first time since June 13. This marks their best stretch of consecutive wins since that date. On the other hand, the Mariners, with a record of 66-77, suffered their season-worst 11-game losing streak, dropping them to a loss against the Athletics in their third consecutive game.

Jeffrey Springs (4-13) bounced back after a challenging spell in August, where he had allowed seven runs in his previous start against Baltimore on August 30. Heading into the game, the 33-year-old pitcher was coming off an ERA of 6.37. He struck out six and walked two while facing just 81 pitches, allowing no runs on two hits in seven innings. It was the first win for Springs since April 14.
