Shriya Pilgaonkar on Swara Bhaskar’s jauhar remark: ‘Easy to judge context of another time’

Shriya Pilgaonkar has weighed in on Swara Bhaskar's criticism of the jauhar sequence in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 2018 film Padmaavat. Pilgaonkar argued that it's difficult for people to judge the mindset of people from another time, saying that "we can't sit in 2026 and judge what people felt and what their values and what their pressures were in the cultural context 1000 to 2000 years ago."

She further argued that people should engage in open and fair conversations, where they are willing to change their minds if presented with new information.
