Selangor ready to distribute face masks for high-risk groups

Selangor authorities are prepared to distribute face masks to high-risk groups and the public due to unhealthy air quality from transboundary haze. Four stations across the state recorded unhealthy air quality with pollutant index readings ranging from 168 to 181. The disaster management committee aims to provide masks to areas with the highest air pollution levels, prioritizing vulnerable populations.

State executive councillor Jamaliah Jamaluddin announced that the face mask distribution would be targeted towards high-risk groups, including senior citizens and individuals with heart or respiratory conditions. She advised the public, particularly those in vulnerable categories, to limit physical and outdoor activities and to remain indoors if air quality is deemed unhealthy. The government will continue to monitor air pollution data from the environment department and meteorological department.
