Ruto attends PS Lenasalon thanksgiving in Samburu

President William Ruto attended the thanksgiving ceremony for Principal Secretary Michael Lenasalon in South Horr, Samburu County on Sunday, September 6, 2026. The ceremony was attended by President Ruto, Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya, National Assembly Minority Leader Junet Mohamed, and other senior government officials and local leaders.

Lenasalon was appointed to his position by President Ruto in April 2025, with the appointment officially taking effect on April 17, 2025, and Lenasalon assuming office shortly after. The president's attendance emphasized the significance of the event, which gathered high-ranking figures from the Kenya Kwanza administration and local leaders.

The thanksgiving ceremony took place in Lenasalon's home county, as the senior government official celebrated the occasion. The visit came a day after President Ruto announced plans to re-tarmac the Imaroro-Mashuuru-Ishiara road in Kajiado County at an estimated cost of Ksh5.6 billion, aiming to boost connectivity, improve mobility, and foster economic opportunities in the region.

The President also inspected the construction of the Mashuuru Modern Market during his visit to Kajiado County. The government has recently emphasized infrastructure development to unlock the economic potential of rural and marginalized areas, with roads, markets, and other infrastructure playing a crucial role in enhancing access to markets and services.
