Rep. Crow says Congress hasn't been briefed on Hegseth leak investigation

Democratic Rep. Jason Crow of Colorado has stated that Congress has not been briefed on an alleged leak investigation led by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. Crow, a senior member of both the House Armed Services Committee and House Intelligence Committee, told "Face the Nation" that he and his colleagues have not received any information about the investigation; instead, they learned about it through public reports.

According to officials briefed on the probe, some top U.S. military personnel were required to undergo polygraph tests after President Trump reacted negatively to the leaks. While polygraph tests are typically routine, administering them to such a broad group of individuals is uncommon. Crow acknowledged the importance of preventing leaks and safeguarding classified information but criticized Hegseth's broader actions.

Hegseth has dismissed over 80 generals and admirals since taking his position in the Trump administration, accounting for the top 10% of the military chain of command. Additionally, Crow highlighted that the number of women up for military promotions has reached a 25-year low under Hegseth's leadership. He further accused Hegseth of fostering an atmosphere of fear, pushing out journalists and media personnel.

Crow suggested that Hegseth's decision to keep details about the leak investigation secret from Congress aligns with a pattern within the Trump administration of withholding information from lawmakers. Officials told CBS News that Hegseth's investigation did not subject all senior military leaders to polygraph testing, and the tests included questions aimed at identifying the source of leaks regarding the U.S. munitions stockpile. No one failed the tests.

When asked about the current state of reported munitions shortages, Crow expressed that people are being prevented from knowing the actual situation.
