Rain returns to Hyderabad after weeks of dry weather, catches commuters off guard

Hyderabad experienced an unexpected downpour on Sunday, September 6, following several weeks of dry conditions. The city became clouded and experienced showers in the afternoon, with certain districts notably Uppal, Habsiguda, Tarnaka, and Mettuguda witnessing rainfall, surprising many commuters. Despite the sudden rain, there were no significant traffic issues reported as it was a Sunday.

While numerous parts of the city received precipitation, others remained unaffected. According to data from the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS) as of 7 p.m., Miyapur had recorded 25 mm of rain, Malakpet had 16 mm, Kavadiguda had 15.8 mm, Uppal had 15.5 mm, Moosarambagh had 15.3 mm, Amberpet had 14.8 mm, Khairatabad had 12.5 mm, Chilkalguda had 12.3 mm, and Kukatpally had 12 mm.

Other districts also witnessed moderate rain. For instance, Kodakandala in Jangaon recorded 54.5 mm, Eturunagaram (Mulugu) had 51 mm, Narketpally (Nalgonda) had 46.8 mm, Mothkur (Yadadri Bhuvanagiri) had 45.8 mm, Phanigiri (Suryapet) had 43.5 mm, and Regonda (Jayashankar Bhupalpally) had 35 mm.
