QC celebrates giving on Int’l Day of Charity

On International Day of Charity, Qatar Charity celebrated the spirit of giving and highlighted several impactful stories from their projects around the world. One such story comes from Ghana, where Dr Hakeem donated land in Accra to the organization, believing it could serve the community better than being sold to traders. This donation led to the creation of an office and community complex with educational, social, and service facilities.

In Gaza, Arkan Jomaa, a four-year-old boy who lost his parents, sister, and leg in a bombing, received crucial support from Qatar Charity. The organization, in partnership with the Restoring Hope Society, provided treatment, rehabilitation, and a prosthetic limb, aiding Arkan's journey to regain mobility and a semblance of childhood.

In Senegal, Qatar Charity implemented water and sanitation projects, distributing 246 wells and 49 water tanks to vulnerable families in Touba and other areas. The initiative, costing over QR4 million, benefited more than 70,000 people, illustrating the organization's commitment to improving daily life through essential resources.

In Sri Lanka, the focus was on restoring sight to those in need. Qatar Charity carried out 300 cataract surgeries and provided 555 pairs of prescription eyeglasses, with 150 for schoolchildren. The target demographic included low-income families, the elderly, and children with vision problems.

Lastly, in Nepal, the organization swiftly responded to the aftermath of floods by delivering 30 tonnes of staple food supplies, hygiene items, and emergency shelter materials to thousands of affected individuals. Here, the urgency of delivering immediate needs—food, shelter, and hygiene—underscores the true value of charity in crises.
