Police rescue woman, children attempting to end life in Annamayya district

The Galiveedu police in Annamayya district rescued a woman and her two children on Saturday night who were reportedly attempting to end their lives at Veligallu dam, 65 km from the city. The police received information around 7:15 p.m. on Saturday that the woman had left home with her children following a family dispute and was headed to the dam to take her own life.

Sub-Inspector Narasimha Reddy and his team immediately rushed to the dam and found the woman and children moving along the bund. The police team diplomatically diverted their attention and successfully rescued them. The woman confessed to the police that she had resorted to such an extreme measure due to misunderstandings with her husband.

Her family members arrived at Galiveedu around midnight, after which a family counseling session was held. Following the counseling, the couple and their relatives returned to their native place. Superintendent of Police Dheeraj Kunubilli praised the swift response of Galiveedu SI and his team in handling the incident.
