Police recover locally made cut-to-size gun from cultists in Delta

On September 4, 2026, at 7:30 pm, the Oghara Division of the Delta State Police, in collaboration with the Civilian Anti-Cult Group from Ethiope-West Local Government Area, apprehended a locally manufactured, custom-sized firearm abandoned following a confrontation involving suspected cult members. The firearm was discovered around 7:30 pm on September 4, 2026, in the vicinity of Ibori Road, Oghara.

Bright Edafe, the Public Relations Officer for Delta State Police, confirmed the incident in a statement. He noted, "On September 4, 2026, at around 7:30 pm, Oghara Division's operatives, alongside members of the civilian anti-cult group, responded to a report of a skirmish involving approximately eight individuals along Ibori Road, Oghara."

According to Edafe, "Upon observing the patrol team, the suspects fled, during which one of them, referred to as ‘Highest,’ discarded a locally crafted, custom-sized firearm." The recovered weapon was secured, and ongoing efforts are being made to identify and apprehend the fleeing suspects.
