PM Narendra Modi Condoles Lives Lost In Delhi Boys' PG Building Collapse, Wishes Injured Speedy Recovery

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in a five-storey building collapse in Delhi's Satya Niketan area on Sunday. He extended condolences to the families of those who lost their loved ones and wished for the injured to recover swiftly. Authorities were on the scene carrying out rescue and relief operations.

The incident occurred around 1:30 pm on Sunday afternoon, with at least three people confirmed dead and eight injured students rescued from the rubble and taken to AIIMS and Safdarjung Hospital, with two critically injured. NDRF, Delhi Fire Services, and Delhi Police were deployed for rescue efforts, with local residents and Delhi University students also joining the operation.

The building, used as a paying guest accommodation, had been unused for years and had recently undergone renovation before being leased and operated as a PG facility. The structure was reportedly suffering from poor condition and inadequate support, with construction work possibly being carried out in the basement before the collapse.

The exact cause of the incident is yet to be determined, but officials are conducting a thorough investigation.
