Photos: UN urges global aid after China, Nepal floods kill over 1,300

On Sunday, Pakistan sent 100 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Nepal to aid relief efforts following deadly floods and landslides. The glacial and mountain collapse near the China-Nepal border claimed at least 1,384 lives and left over 5,500 people missing across both nations. In Nepal alone, rescuers have recovered 1,341 bodies, with approximately 4,996 still unaccounted for, according to the Foreign Office.

The assistance was coordinated by Pakistan's National Disaster Management Authority and delivered by a chartered flight from Islamabad to Kathmandu. The relief package included tents, blankets, mats, hygiene kits, and medicines for affected communities. The send-off ceremony for the aid took place at the Islamabad airport, attended by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Nepal’s Ambassador Rita Dhital, and senior officials from both the Foreign Office and National Disaster Management Authority.

Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar expressed his condolences, stating that Pakistan stands in solidarity with Nepal's government and people. Rescue operations in Nepal continue into a 12th day, despite challenging conditions, with four survivors rescued in miraculous circumstances.
