Peter Cullen, the renowned Canadian voice actor who brought Optimus Prime to life in the Transformers franchise and voiced Eeyore in Disney's Winnie the Pooh, passed away on August 26 at the age of 85. Cullen's death was confirmed by his agent, Kevin Motley, with his family stating that he had passed peacefully in his Los Angeles home.

No specific cause of death was disclosed. Cullen began his voice acting career in the 1960s, training at the National Theatre School of Canada. He is best known for his iconic portrayal of Optimus Prime in the original Transformers animated series from 1984, a role he continued to voice throughout various iterations of the franchise, including The Transformers: The Movie (1986) and Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (2023).

His deep, measured voice became synonymous with the heroic Autobot leader. Cullen's career spanned multiple genres, including television, film, animation, video games, and theater. He amassed over 200 credits across these mediums in a six-decade-long career.
