Pakistan cricket finds itself in a dire situation, with the team currently struggling in their ongoing three-Test series against England. Former wicketkeeper-batter Atiq-uz-Zaman has expressed his frustration over the current state of affairs, stating that the team is "in shambles" and at an "all-time low". The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made a series of sudden and significant changes, including the dismissal of seven players, head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed, and bowling coach Umar Gul, ahead of the third and final Test at Edgbaston.

Atiq-uz-Zaman questioned the rationale behind these abrupt changes, particularly the decision to send some players home and remove Sarfaraz and Gul from their coaching roles. He criticized the PCB for not giving these experienced coaches a chance to prove themselves, especially considering their previous success with the Pakistani team.

Atiq-uz-Zaman also expressed disappointment in the decision not to have Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq bat in the Lord's Test due to a Grade 1 tear in his left calf. He argued that such a brave move would have garnered respect from fans and peers alike, and that Imam's decision to skip batting further damaged his reputation.

Despite his criticism, Atiq-uz-Zaman called on the players to maintain their character and perform well in the final Test at Edgbaston. He emphasized that Pakistan has untapped talent and that the PCB needs to provide better leadership, planning, and support to unlock that potential. Atiq-uz-Zaman urged the PCB chairman to appoint a leader with genuine expertise and experience to drive real structural change in the organization.
