Opposition seeks apology for CM Maryam's remarks on Punjab facing threats from neighbouring provinces

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz claimed that the province's security situation has improved due to the use of technology, but she acknowledged that the province still faces threats coming from its neighboring provinces. At an AI technology event in Lahore, Maryam stated that terrorism now enters Punjab from these areas, and everyone is concerned about the safety of the province.

The Chief Minister also emphasized that the security personnel had faced heavy casualties in attacks and that joint check posts were strengthened with additional security measures. She further mentioned that the province had incorporated artificial intelligence into its security system with support from the Pakistan Army and other security institutions, leading to an AI Intelligence Hub for effective coordination.

However, the opposition alliance Tehreek-e-Tafazzul-e-Ahmi Pakistan (TTAP) strongly condemned the Chief Minister's remarks, demanding an apology for hurting the sentiments of people from other provinces. TTAP spokesman Akhunzada Hussain Ahmad Yousafzai highlighted that the remarks reflected an outdated mindset and could potentially damage national unity.

The alliance demanded that Maryam withdraw her remarks and apologize to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan for causing division among the provinces.
