“Needs to Be Benched”: CFB Fans Sound Off on DJ Lagway After Second Turnover vs. Auburn

Baylor Bears quarterback DJ Lagway's first collegiate season has not started on the note he hoped for. In Saturday's game against the Auburn Tigers, the sophomore committed two turnovers in the first quarter. A fumble followed by an interception in Auburn territory led to fans suggesting Lagway should be benched. One fan wrote, "DJ Lagway needs to be benched," while another remarked, "The best thing DJ Lagway did was get out of the SEC."

Lagway transferred from Florida to Baylor in 2025, expressing dissatisfaction with his sophomore season in Florida where he threw 14 interceptions. He found the transition difficult, stating, "I was in a bubble down there, I didn't feel like a normal person." His move to Baylor seemed promising with a focus on head coach Dave Aranda, offensive coordinator Jake Spavital, and the resources available to him.

Lagway appreciated the offensive scheme that reminded him of his high school days, a stark contrast to his experience in Florida.
